More than half of people who suspect they have a concussion never get it checked out, whether it’s because they don’t think concussions are a big deal, or because concussions are invisible injuries that are way less obvious than something like a broken arm or a cut that requires stitches. That’s why it’s crucial for us to keep an eye out for ourselves and for each other.

Concussions are not just invisible injuries – they’re brain injuries, too. March is Brain Injury Awareness Month, so we hosted a CAN Champions Rally Webinar on Thursday, March 21. This live, panel-style event was be a chance for our CAN Champions and other supporters to hear from the courageous advocates and health care professionals who are working to raise awareness about concussions in their communities.

Our panel of speakers included Greg Ayotte, the Brain Injury Association of America’s Director of Consumer Services; Dr. Brooke Mills, current Miss New Hampshire and founder of National Concussion Awareness Day; and Erica Walker, founder of TBI Uncovered.
